Dustborn Story
In the year 2030, the main character, Pax, is an Anomal living in Pacifica, a country that was once California before it separated from the Republic. She works low-paying jobs and does small cons to survive. Pax wants to escape to a place where Anomals have rights. A scientist from the Weave resistance named Jacob recruits Pax for a job. She must deliver Puritan Protolanguage data to the Weave in Nova Scotia. In return, she will get a safe haven there. Pax and her Anomal friends, Noam and Sai, team up with Theo, who works for the Weave. Together, they steal data from the Puritans. Pax is four months pregnant during this dangerous mission. The fanatical Puritans are chasing her, and Justice, an authoritarian police force, is trying to stop her. To hide their true purpose, the group pretends to be a punk rock band and travels on a robot-driven tour bus.
Dustborn Gameplay
Dustborn is a third-person action-adventure game that focuses on dialogue and exploration to tell the story. Combat is in the game, but players can skip or avoid fights if they want. Pax can do a basic four-hit melee combo with her baseball bat, which can be extended to five hits with upgrades. The band performances are played as rhythm games. Players can explore locations, talk with crew members, complete missions, and rehearse with the band. Sometimes players might throw Molotov cocktails from a motorbike or swing a baseball bat to take down helicopters. During dialogue, players choose between up to four dialogue options.
