HuniePop is a popular adult dating simulation and puzzle game developed and published by HuniePot. The game was first released on January 19, 2015, on PC. It is a single-player title available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. The game gained significant attention after a successful Kickstarter campaign and is considered one of the most well-known adult games on Steam. It supports English and has sold over one million copies.

HuniePop Story

The player takes the role of a young man who has no luck with women and has never been on a date. One night, Kyu — a love fairy who appears in human form — notices the player’s situation and decides to help. Kyu acts as a guide and coach, teaching the player how to talk to girls, give gifts, and go on dates. She introduces the player to a number of women living in the same city, and the story follows the player’s attempt to build a romantic connection with as many of them as possible. A mysterious bonus character also becomes available after the player successfully dates all the main girls. Kyu stays present as an advisor and comment provider as the player’s relationships develop.

HuniePop Gameplay

HuniePop is split into two main sections. Outside of dates, the player moves around the city visiting locations such as the mall, coffee shop, and university campus. At these locations, the player can talk to girls to learn about their interests, give gifts, and raise their affection. Spending time with a girl outside of a date costs in-game currency called Hunie, which is earned by completing dates and buying items. During dates, the game switches to a match-three puzzle board. The player earns date tokens, passion, romance, and talent points by matching colored tokens on the board. A stamina bar for the girl on the date goes down as the right tokens are matched. A full date consists of a set number of turns, and if the player performs well enough, an adult scene is unlocked.

HuniePop Features

The game features nine women in total, including the hidden bonus character. A shop run by Kyu sells items like gifts, food, and consumables that help during dates and conversations. A bag of collected gifts can be managed and sent to girls to raise their affection outside of dates. Difficulty options are included, with an unlockable hard mode called Babe Mode that removes colour coding from the board tokens. The game includes Steam Achievements and trading cards. A photo album stores all unlocked adult artwork. HuniePop uses anime-inspired 2D character artwork and was considered a benchmark adult title on Steam when it launched.
