Saints Row 2 is an open-world action-adventure game where you play as the leader of a street gang. The game was developed by Volition and published by THQ. It was released in October 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and in January 2009 for PC. Saints Row 2 is the second game in the Saints Row series and continues the story from the first game.

Saints Row 2 Story

The game takes place five years after the first Saints Row. Your character wakes up from a coma in prison after being caught in an explosion on a yacht. During those five years, the 3rd Street Saints gang has fallen apart. With the help of Carlos, who helps you escape from prison, you return to the city of Stilwater. You find that three new gangs have taken over your old gang territory. The Ronin are a Japanese gang that controls gambling and prostitution. The Sons of Samedi are a Haitian gang that runs the drug trade.

The Brotherhood is an outlaw gang that deals in weapons and violence. A big company called Ultor Corporation has also rebuilt parts of the city. You rescue your old friend Johnny Gat from court and start rebuilding the Saints. You recruit new members like Pierce, Shaundi, and Carlos to help take back Stilwater. The story follows your revenge against these gangs and the corporation that wants to control the city.

Saints Row 2 Gameplay

Saints Row 2 is played from a third-person view. You can walk around the city or drive cars, motorcycles, boats, helicopters, and planes. The city has two main islands with many neighborhoods. To start missions, you must earn Respect points by doing side activities like racing, fighting, or stealing cars. You can do main story missions in any order you want. The game has over forty weapons, including pistols, rifles, rocket launchers, chainsaws, and satchel charges. You can carry two handguns or submachine guns at once. Combat includes shooting and hand-to-hand fighting. If you cause trouble, the police and gangs will chase you. You can hide or pay money at special locations to stop them. You take over neighborhoods by completing missions and destroying enemy bases.

Saints Row 2 Features

You can be male or female and change your appearance, voice, body size, and clothing anytime. You can buy and upgrade hideouts called cribs, where you can save your game and store vehicles. The city has over 130 buildings you can enter and ninety shops you can buy from. You can also customize your gang members by changing their clothes and vehicles. Side activities include insurance fraud, where you throw yourself into traffic, septic truck missions, fight clubs, and helicopter attacks. You earn money from activities and shops to buy weapons, cars, and properties.
