The game takes place on the desert planet Kwalasha, where human miners have been working peacefully until the Arachnids arrive. Under the command of Colonel Hawthorne, you lead the Mobile Infantry to take back control of the planet and destroy the bug threat. The campaign follows your military operations across various locations as you push back the Arachnid forces. The Raising Hell expansion continues the story with new missions on the planet of Gehenna.

This is a real-time strategy game where you command squads of Mobile Infantry soldiers against massive waves of Arachnid bugs. The game uses True Line of Sight and True Line of Fire mechanics, which means terrain, elevation, and obstacles actually block vision and shooting. High ground gives your troops better firing angles, while narrow passages create chokepoints that help control bug swarms. You command various infantry units, including rifle soldiers, rocket troopers, snipers, engineers, and armored vehicles. You must group your units properly because bugs attack in huge numbers from multiple directions. Special abilities like airstrikes and artillery can be called in during critical moments.
