The game was initially released in Early Access on February 16, 2023, and the full version launched on February 1, 2024, for PC via Steam. It was also released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Nintendo Switch. HELLCARD takes place in the same papercraft world as Book of Demons and serves as a spin-off sequel to that game. This title is available for $19.99 on Steam.

HELLCARD Gameplay
HELLCARD is a deckbuilding game where players stand in the centre of a circular map and use cards to fight against enemies surrounding them. The game uses tactical card battles where players draw five cards at the start of their turn and play them using an energy resource. What makes this game unique is that monster placement on the map actually matters. Players can use spatial-oriented card mechanics to play cards that create area effects or move enemies around the battlefield.
The game can be played solo with computer-controlled companions or with up to three players in online cooperative multiplayer. During solo play, companions have their own decks and automatically upgrade their cards as players go deeper into the dungeons. Between battles, players can spend currency to buy artifacts, new cards, healing items, or upgrade existing cards.
The game features five playable classes: Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Tinkerer, and Bruja. The Warriors are best at close-range combat and protecting teammates. Rogue prefers long-range attacks and has lower skill costs. Mage excels at mana management and area damage.
HELLCARD Features
The game includes over 300 unique cards that players can collect and upgrade. Cards have interesting upgrade paths where they evolve into three different versions with distinct effects, and those versions can further develop into three more options. Players can unlock new artifacts, cards, and subclasses by gaining experience with their chosen class after completing dungeon runs. Some useful artifacts include Silver Spoon, which gives extra gems, Torn Button, which trades health for more maximum health, and Whale Figurine, which provides an extra gem after rounds. Players will face massive hordes of undead monsters while navigating through paper dungeons. The Bruja DLC added a new class with a unique Reckoning mechanic that generates self-inflicted damage when using powerful spells.
