Days Gone is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Bend Studio and published by PlayStation PC LLC. The game is set two years after a global event that turned most of humanity into savage, infected creatures called Freakers. Players take on the role of a biker named Deacon St. John, trying to survive in a very dangerous and ruined Oregon.

Days Gone Story
The story of Days Gone follows Deacon St. John, a drifter and former outlaw biker who is trying to survive in a dangerous, ruined version of Oregon. Two years before the game begins, a virus spreads rapidly and turned most people into fast-moving, feral creatures known as Freakers. On the night the virus hit, Deacon put his injured wife, Sarah, on a rescue helicopter to keep her safe, but was separated from her and believed she did not survive. Deacon and his best friend Boozer now live as drifters, moving across the wilderness on their motorcycles and taking jobs for small survivor camps to get by. The story is about Deacon searching for answers about what happened to Sarah while dealing with the dangers all around him, including Freakers, hostile human groups, and the collapsed state of the old society.
Days Gone Gameplay
Days Gone is played in third-person from behind the character. Deacon moves on foot or rides his motorcycle across a large open map based on the Pacific Northwest wilderness. The motorcycle is central to the game and needs fuel to run. Players must keep it maintained and repaired, and find fuel at abandoned vehicles and gas stations across the map.
Combat involves using guns, melee weapons, and throwable items like molotovs and pipe bombs against enemies. Freakers often appear in very large groups called Hordes. These Hordes can contain hundreds of Freakers at once and require careful preparation to take on. Players can also use stealth to sneak past enemies when direct combat is too risky. Deacon can collect materials from the environment to build new weapons and items to use in combat.

Days Gone has a large open map with many regions to ride across, including forests, mountain areas, and abandoned towns. The game has a bike upgrade system where players can improve their motorcycle’s engine, fuel tank, frame, and other parts over time. The weather and time of day change naturally, and Freaker behavior can shift depending on whether it is day or night. The PC version supports ultra-wide monitors, unlocked frame rates, and has options for higher resolution graphics compared to the original console release.
