Thought Experiment Simulator

Thought Experiment Simulator is a philosophical puzzle game that looks at famous thought experiments with comedy and education. HoHo Game Studio developed this game, and Gamera Games published it. The game was released on July 22, 2024, for PC on Steam. It takes about two hours to complete and uses black and white visuals with voice acting that can talk directly to players.

Thought Experiment Simulator Gameplay

The game has three modes to play. In Story Mode, you watch groups of three famous philosophers like Nietzsche, Aristotle, Confucius, Socrates, and Arendt talk about a thought experiment and explain how it connects to their philosophies. Sim Mode gives you interactive versions of these experiments where you can play with the scenarios in funny ways. Challenge Mode is similar to fast minigames, where you must complete thirty challenges based on the thought experiments in a short time limit.

The game includes famous thought experiments like the Trolley Problem, Ship of Theseus, Brain in a Vat, Infinite Monkey, Sisyphus, Prisoner’s Dilemma, and Schrodinger’s Cat. You interact with the experiments by clicking and choosing options. The narrator talks throughout the game and sometimes breaks the fourth wall by talking about the game itself or the player. The game uses simple controls with point and click mechanics.

Thought Experiment Simulator Features

The visual style is black and white, which highlights the abstract nature of philosophy. The game presents serious philosophical questions but treats them with comedy and absurd situations. In the Trolley Problem simulation, you can choose to run over a dragon or a unicorn instead of people. The Sisyphus simulation shows him wearing funny hats each time he goes back down the mountain, including wigs from anime characters.

The game also has a creative moment where you can interact with the developer’s computer to read old school essays and watch clips from unfinished game projects. Famous philosophers appear as characters who discuss their views on the experiments. The game is educational but also entertaining, so you do not need to be a philosophy expert to enjoy it.
