Blue Prince is a puzzle adventure game developed by Dogubomb and published by Raw Fury. The game was released on April 10, 2025, for PC (Windows), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a macOS version arriving on September 29, 2025. It was developed over eight years by solo developer Tonda Ros. The game earned a Metacritic score of 92 and was selected as a Steam Awards 2025 finalist in the Innovative Gameplay category.

Blue Prince Story

The player takes on the role of Simon P. Jones, a young man whose great-uncle, Herbert S. Sinclair, has passed away and left him the Mt. Holly Estate, a large mansion with 45 rooms. However, there is a condition in the will: Simon can only claim the estate if he finds the hidden 46th room somewhere inside. As Simon explores the mansion across multiple visits, he discovers letters, notes, and clues that slowly point to a much bigger story involving his missing mother, Mary Jones, a children’s book writer who went by the name Marion Marigold. The story expands into a political history involving a fictional nation called Orinda Aries, stolen relics, and a resistance group. The narrative is not told directly but instead pieced together by the player from written documents found inside the mansion’s many rooms.

Blue Prince Gameplay

At the start of each in-game day, Simon enters the mansion with 50 steps. Moving from one room into another costs one step. When the player reaches a closed door, they are shown three random room cards to pick from. The chosen room appears on the other side of the door. This means the player is actively building the layout of the mansion as they explore it. The full blueprint has 45 spaces arranged in a five-by-nine grid. At the end of each day, whether the player runs out of steps or decides to leave, the entire mansion resets and all collected items are lost. Over time, the player can unlock permanent bonuses such as extra starting steps, coins, or gems that carry over between runs. Rooms in the mansion come in color categories that hint at their function. Red rooms often come with a cost or drawback, while green rooms tend to offer gems or natural resources. Other rooms contain machines, locked doors, and clues tied to larger mysteries in the mansion.

The game has more than 45 types of rooms, with more possible rooms than spaces in the mansion, so no two visits play out the same. Players can collect coins, gems, and keys that are used to unlock sealed rooms or buy items. The game also includes a wide range of interconnected mystery threads that go far beyond finding Room 46. Tonda Ros worked with art director Davide Pellino to build a unique visual style, and the jazz duo Trigg & Gusset contributed the music. The game was praised for its innovative design and received very positive reviews across PC and console platforms.
