The game is inspired by The Iliad and brings a blend of grand, turn-based empire management and spectacular real-time battles to the heart of the Trojan War. This is the second game in the Total War Saga series.

A Total War Saga: TROY Story
The game tells the story of the famous Trojan War from Greek mythology. You can play as heroes from both sides of the war, including Achilles, Hector, Paris, and Menelaus. The story follows the events from Homer’s Iliad, one of the most famous stories ever told. The game explores the Bronze Age in one of the most pivotal areas of the era, as told through the mythology of Homer’s Iliad. You get to decide the fate of the war and the people involved. The gods from Mount Olympus also play a part in the story, just like in the original myths. The game shows how the war started when Paris took Helen from her husband Menelaus, which led to a ten-year war between Troy and the Greek kingdoms. You can experience famous moments from the story, like the duel between Achilles and Hector.
A Total War Saga: TROY Gameplay
The game combines two types of gameplay. On the campaign map, you manage your empire by building cities, recruiting armies, and making diplomatic deals with other factions. This part uses a turn-based strategy, which means you take turns to make your moves. When armies meet in battle, the game switches to real-time combat, where you control thousands of soldiers simultaneously. You can command infantry, archers, cavalry, and chariots in large battles. The game has eight playable factions, each with special units and abilities. You can play as Troy, defending your city, or as one of the Greek kingdoms trying to capture it.
