The story begins when famous writer Sebastian P. Husher disappears from his mansion. You play as Daniel Noyer, his editor, who goes to the house to check on him. When you arrive, you find the mansion empty and strange things start happening. A mysterious entity called “The Presence” haunts the house and other locations. This evil force has a connection to a cursed music box that causes terrible events. Throughout the game, you meet different characters who also get involved in investigating these supernatural events.

The game uses fixed camera angles and third-person view like old horror games. You cannot fight The Presence directly, so you must hide and stay quiet when it appears. The game requires you to listen carefully for sounds and watch for visual clues that tell you when danger is near. You control your character by walking around rooms, examining objects, and solving puzzles. When The Presence comes near, you must hold your breath, hide behind furniture, or move slowly to avoid being caught. If your character dies, you must continue with a new character from the available options.
