In Anno 2205, players join humanity in its next step into the future with the promise to build a better tomorrow. The necessary isotope for this breakthrough, helium-3, can only be found in harvestable quantities on the Moon. Players take on the role of a leader from a corporation and must compete against other corporations in developing future technologies. To secure the prosperity of their people, players must conquer Earth by establishing rich cities and grand industrial complexes. However, the real challenge begins when players venture into space to mine the Moon for vital resources that will transform their cities into thriving metropolises back on Earth.
Anno 2205: Ultimate Edition Gameplay
Players begin by building metropolises on Earth to increase their population. The happiness of citizens influences their behavior. Happy citizens can be seen travelling around the city, while unhappy citizens will abandon their buildings and leave. Eventually, players are asked to develop and conduct research in arctic regions to find cost-efficient ways to launch rockets to the Moon. Upon completion of this research, players may colonize the Moon and build cities inside its craters. Resources from the Moon, such as helium-3, can be sent back to Earth for development.
The game introduces a session mode that allows players to control and manage their cities both on Earth and on the Moon at the same time. Resources vary in sessions, so players must set up trade routes between colonies to share resources and raw materials. The cities are five times larger than in previous Anno games and support at least eight sessions. Buildings can be upgraded using modules, which allow them to produce more goods.
