GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- is a 2D fighting game developed and published by Arc System Works. The game was created by Daisuke Ishiwatari and released on June 11, 2021, for PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The arcade version came out on July 29, 2021, in Japan. Later, the game was released for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on March 7, 2023, and most recently for Nintendo Switch on January 23, 2025. This is the seventh main game in the Guilty Gear series and the 25th release overall.

GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- Story
The story brings the Guilty Gear series to its final conclusion after more than 20 years. You follow Sol Badguy and his rival Ky Kiske as they face the last confrontation with That Man, the person responsible for all the destruction and damage done to their universe and its inhabitants. The game features a fully voiced story mode Along with Sol and Ky, there are 15 characters at launch who all have their own roles in this final chapter. The story mode can be played separately from the fighting modes.
GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- Gameplay
This is a one-on-one 2D fighting game where you select a character and battle against opponents. The game was designed to be easier to understand for newcomers. You fight using basic attacks like punches and kicks, along with special moves unique to your character. The game introduces a Wall Break mechanic, which is a major new feature. When you perform certain combos in the corner of the arena, the wall breaks and both fighters transition to a new stage area. Another important mechanic is the Tension Gauge, which fills up during combat. When full, you can use powerful Roman Cancel moves. The game removed the Instant Kill mechanic that was present in earlier Guilty Gear games.

The base game launched with 15 playable fighters, including series favorites like Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, May, Axl Low, Chipp Zanuff, Potemkin, Faust, Millia Rage, Zato-1, Ramlethal Valentine, Leo Whitefang, Nagoriyuki, Giovanna, Anji Mito, and I-No. Through four season passes, many additional characters have been added. Season Pass 1 brought Goldlewis Dickinson, Jack-O, Happy Chaos, Baiken, and Testament. Season Pass 2 added Bridget, Sin Kiske, and Bedman. Season Pass 3 introduced Johnny, Elphelt Valentine, A.B.A, and Slayer. Season Pass 4 features Dizzy, Venom, Unika from the anime series, and Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgerunners as a guest character. The game offers several modes including Arcade Mode, Versus Mode for local play, Survival Mode, Training Mode, Mission Mode for learning techniques, and online multiplayer. There is also a Fishing minigame where you can catch fish to unlock items in the gallery.
